Linear Gratings

Linear or rotary gratings are essentially a series of lines on glass or film, used to measure movement. They are generally used with a light source and sensor which detects the lines and spaces in order to measure movement. The sensor can also have its own grating to further enhance the accuracy of the movement measurement. Graticules manufacture high-definition transmission or reflective gratings, not refractive types.
