Bore sight reticles, as used in surveying equipment, firearm alignment and other alignment systems, are often a series of concentric circles and scales accurately applied onto glass discs.
A typical application is to pre-align a firearm's barrel and sights (scopes or iron sights) without firing live ammunition, saving time and money at the range. They are an initial step to get shots "on paper" at a close distance before final precision zeroing with live fire.
